| Summary: The research has been an attempt to determine the proportion of wood assortments for the up-to-7-cm-diameter stemwood volume of the pedunculate oak, sessile-flowered oak and field ash, according to the regulations of the Croatian standards for forest products. Further on, we have tried to determine the impact of the breast-height diameter and the wage tariff series (stem height) upon the proportion of wood assortments in the stemwood mass. The research involved 281 peduncled oaks, 303 sessile-flowered oaks and 302 field ashes. After processing the data, we established a considerable dependence of the wood assortment proportion in the up-to-7 cm-diameter stemwood mass upon breast-height diameters and heights. We likewise established a high degree of the correlation between the measured and equalized data, and a satisfactory reliability of the achieved results. The research results have been presented in tables 7-12, figures 4-9, and equations 1-10. They can be used for fast and simple determination of the wood assortment quality according to the known breast-height diameters and wage tariff series. They may also be easily built into the existing PC programs for calculation of the wood assortment quantity. The research leads to the following conclusions: 1. The research results should be tested in other forest managements. 2.Future research should test the results of the 10-24 cm and bigger than 70 cm breast-height diameters. 3.Further research should be urgently done on other tree species (beech, fir, and others), depending on their proportion in the Croatian forests. | ||
