Application of the New Phytosanitary Measures for Wood Packaging Material in the International Trade     pdf     HR     EN 511
Summary: In concordance with the European and world trends, plant protection in forestry is becoming more and more significant. This significance will even increase in the time to come, since the conservation of biodiversity and the vitality of the forest – the most complex of all Earth’s ecosystems – have been the basic guidelines of sustainable management. In order to reduce the risks from introducing and spreading quarantine harmful organisms through the wooden material used for packaging, the Secretariat of the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) issued the International Standard for Phytosanitary Measures No. 15 (ISPM No. 15), to be used in determining the phytosanitary measures for wood protection. Respecting the taken obligations at international level, the Republic of Croatia introduced the guidelines of the accepted standard into its legislation in the form of a Regulation on Phytosanitary conditions that must be provided for the wood packaging material in international trade (NN 40/05). Practical application of the new guidelines is a priority requiring the implementation of all available power that we need for taking part in the common European and world market, which is the basic precondition for our survival and development.
