Summary: During the Homeland war 70 % of the territory of the Republic of Croatia being the battle field. Large parts of this area has also comprised numerous natural habitats, including national parks, nature parks and the hunting grounds.
The aim of our investigation was to determine at which level the hunting grounds managed by the “Croatian Forests” are covered with mines (personnel and anti-tank mines). The results obtained clearly indicated that various density of »rines inf luence the numerous biological casualties in the wild game (reed deer, roe deer, wild boar, hare), and on the winged game, too. It also degraded the population structure of the game species (sex and age ratio) and the trophy quality. The presence of mines inside the hunting grounds initiated the economical depression, for the reason of impossibility to manage and using the natural resources-
