Summary: The size of the average distance of attraction is the best indicator of a successfully installed forest road network. Forest roads installed in such a way that they significantly reduce the average distance of attraction, are effective forest mads. The average distance of attraction can be geometric and real, that is immediate, the minimal and optimal required for a specific area. Calculating the average distance of attraction is very important for a rational management of the forest. Various methods are used, and one of the most modern methods is the gravity-centered method, which combined with digitized forest maps and adequate software support, gives very precise results in a relatively short period of time. The accuracy of the gravity centered method in regards to various influencing factors; when and how it can be used; are there any more efficacious alternative methods; are just some of the questions to which this paper gives answers. Key words: factors to vertical terrain corrections; the actual average distance of attraction; the average geometrical attraction distance; the center of gravity; the factor for horizontal bypassing.; the gravity centered method |
