Summary: Destroying of vegetation and the drastic degradation of the area of Solin and Kaštela, caused mainly by cement industry, is from the ecologic side a great problem. Besides pollution of the air and settling of cement dust, the factory Dalmacijacement has changed the area by surface digging of cement clay. Since Split is one of the main transit centres of tourism on the coast the problem is more serious since the digging continues. This situation demands recultivation of surface digging by afforestation as the essential amelioration measure in protection of the landscape. This paper deals with the amelioration measures on (1) final lower exploited areas (according to the miner´s project) which are made of marly with admixtures of carbonat sandstone and limestones and (2) on the areas of nonused earth material. The metods of amelioration have been analysed by biologic and technical-camouflage methods. The autor gives the list of trees, bushes and climbing plants, which are used for amelioration of excavation and deals with the types of planting.
