| Summary: The Working Group on Effects of Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution is established according to Convention on Transboundary Pollution. The Working Group is responsible for research and development on the effects of major air pollutants on human health and the environment. On the basis of the research results from the 1987 to 1997 the Substantive Report on trends in the effects of air pollutants is puplisned. The most Programmes have been in operation for 10 years or more.Faculty of Forestry University of Zagreb, Forest Research Institute, Jastrebarsko and Public Enterprise "Croatian Forests" ("Hrvatske šume", p.o. Zagreb) had a significant contribution in the abtained results. The Monitoring system of Air Pollution effects in Croatia is established 1987 (Prpić, et. al. 1987). First results about dieback of beech with silver fir in mountain range of Dinarides caused by industrial pollution were announced together with German researchers (Prpić, Glavač, Koenies, 1985). Dieback of silver fir caused by Air Pollution in Gorski Kotar Region are also published (Prpić, Seletković, 1987). In general, first results about dieback of forest in Croatia are published immediately after first year of research (Prpić, Komlenović, Seletković, 1987). The different research of Trends in Impacts of Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution effects and also benefits that might result from decreases in emissions (Sulpfur and others) are published in this report. The report is produced by members of Bureau of the Working Group on Effects and the Programme Centres, according to Convention rules (ECE). By measuring the empirical trends are obtained and by dinamic modeling studies the future predictions are founded. Key words: Air Pollution; Longe-range; Transboundary; Trends | ||
