| Summary: The author discusses about a new Pine race which he found on the "Trebević" Mountain near Sarajevo. He supposes it might be a hybrid between Mugho-Pine (Pinus mugo Turra) and our endemic Graybark Pine (Pinus heldreichii Christ). Both parent species are to be found in forest stands and cultures on the same mountain. The author gave to the new race o provisional name Pinus mugodermis. It is not yet possible to establisch with certainty - if the hypothesis for this new race to be a hybrid between the mentioned species is valid - whether it originated on the mentioned mountain or was brought from a neighbouring mountain and cultivated together with ohter tree species which were used for reforestation. Subsequent investigations should yiled a more complete picture as to the origin and other characteristics of this new race of our Pines. | ||
