Forest fires and fire science pdf HR EN | 159
Summary: In this paper a short presentation of a major study on the development of the organized forest protection against fire in our country which began by the end of 1981, as well as about some shortcomings of this development is given. This paper focuses on two aspects of the wildland fire: fire research and fire management. Scientific research has expanded our knowledge of wildland fires. New knowledge and technologies will be needed to support effective fire management in an increasingly complex environment. The natural role of fire in forest ecosystems is becoming increasingly understood, therefore fire management asks for more knowledge about fire and considerably more sophisticated decision making than does fire control. Key words: Canadian experts report; decision support systems; fire-climate regions.; fuel types; inflammability and combustibility of fuel types
