| Summary: The increment loss in Beech occurring in consequence of congelation of foliage when the snow falls on it or owing to late frost amounts to 24-29 % of volume increment, which represents a loss of 1357 Dinars per one eu. m. The harmful effect of congelation of foliage of Beech - owing to snow or frost - as compared to defoliation of Oak by the Gipsy Moth does not manifest itself in the year after congelation of foliage had taken place. For the established volume loss in Beech caused by the congelation of foliage the author confirms to be lower than the one brought about through the defoliation by the Gipsy Moth. And that because the Beech usually regenerates its foliage till the beginning of June, thus being able to utilize completely that period of the growing season in which the main part of increment is produced. | ||
