Lysimetric Pedology as a Method of Quality Researches of Soil Solution in Forest Soils of Croatia     pdf     HR     EN 397
Summary: Systematic and elaborate multidisciplinary researches of peduncled oak and common hornbeam have begun in Forest Research Institute in Jastrebarsko in 1991. The method of monitoring matter sedimentation in forest and soil solution by lysimeters was worked out at that time. This method, which is nowadays closely related to ICP-Forest monitoring, has to date included several forest communities on the territory of Croatia. The following deposited matters were monitored: Cl-,SO42--S, NH4+-N, Na+,K+, Ca2+, Mg2+. Plastic lysimeters are placed in the soil at the depth of 10 cm or beneath the humus layer and in mineral part of soil (100 cm).
They collect the seeped liquid (seepage) in the soil. The surface of the collector-tubs (baths) is 1093 cm2. The plastic container contains 96 % clean quartz sand, which acts as a filter for purification of liquids from soil particles. Sampling is carried out once a month. According to the obtained data of monitoring, our forest ecosystems absorb more deposited particles (wet and dry sedimentation) in comparison to control samples in the open area.
Key words: deposition; forest communities; lysimeters; monitoring
