Summary: In the author´s estimate, it is of utmost importance to describe Macedonian oak (Quercus trojana) as a relict tertiary species preserved in refugium sites of Dalmatinska Zagora in the locality of Bržine.Apart from its distribution area, the author also highlights the morphological-biological and ecological properties of Macedonian oak, as well as the site conditions in Bržine. He focuses on this locality, which has not been previously described in specialist literature, and classifies this area into a special forest association - the forest of Macedonian oak - Quercetum trojanae.
