Summary: This paper presents the results of the questionnaire on disposal of hazardous waste in 13 operating units, which carry out felling, processing and transportation of wood and construction of forest roads in state-owned forests of the Republic of Croatia with the use of 367 mechanised machines, regularly maintained in their own repair-shops. Data have been collected for each operating unit on the number of employees and number of mechanised means of work, quantities and types of hazardous waste, compliance with the Waste Disposal Act and general issues related to the disposal of waste and environmental protection. The conclusion on the key aspects of handling hazardous waste has been reached by mathematical data processing and interpretation of the results. The implementation of the questionnaire and the obtained results are considered highly significant for the endeavours to establish a unique waste management system.
