A Contribution to Recognising the Effects of Different Methods of Raising Seedlings of Silver Pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) on their Growth in Field Tests pdf HR EN | 13 | |
Summary: The paper presents the results of research of 10 years into the effects of different methods of raising seedlings of silver pine on their growth in the field test “Petrunići”, Duga Resa Forest Office. The test involved 12 types of seedlings selected on the basis of different raising methods: bare root, Nisula roll, Bosnaplast containers 12 and 18 and direct sowing of seeds in the field, as well as the application of mineral fertilisation. The following measurements and calculations were conducted in 1995, or in the 10th year of the establishment of the test: total tree height and stem diameter at breast height (1.30 m) and in the stem base (0.30 m), the registered plant survival, the mean stand tree was calculated and its biomass determined in the fresh and dry condition, and the produced biomass per ha. The results of the latest measurements showed the following: – Seed sowing had the highest rate of survival. – Seedlings raised in Bosnaplast containers achieved the best height and diameter growth. – Seedlings raised in Bosnaplast containers achieved the largest produced biomass of the mean tree and per ha.
