Forestry and Wood Industry - Croatian Prospects     pdf     HR     EN 77
Summary: In this article, authors are debating the strategic importance of wood technology development. Particulary thay are proposing future market solution for smallwood which, even today, is not easy to sell for the firewood in Croatia (because everyday more and more houses are using other heat fuel especially the reasonable cheap gas). Based on "Hrvatske šume" p.o. Zagreb forest inventory data, they are forecasting about 3.000.000 m3 yearly increment of such wood coming in next decade (double then todays one). In circumstances that Worlds politics are starting the new CO2 market by which are going to be regulated the organic matter burning, it would be very unresponsibly to let forest stand wood rotting and turnig CO2 back into atmosphere. To utilize such wood, a new pulp factory should be build in Republic of Croatia. The perfect position for factory is somewhere on the Sava river so the water could be used, both for the low cost transport and for the technological pulp making process. To fulfil its all expectation, the factory must be constructed according to highest ecological standards. The technological chemicals must be most responsible managed. All waste water have to be cleared and only then turned back into river. The air pollution should be completely under the control. The bark, lignin and other organic waste shold be burned in a biomass boiler or responsible laid aside and naturaly decomposed. On the end, the authors are pointing out that a responsible (sustainable!) forest harvesting aiming for a permanent built in wood is a new worlds ecological trend because that also means a permanent carbon dioxide atmosphere reducion.

Key words: a new ecological trend; oxygen market; wood industry
