State of Nutrition of Plants in Forest Nurseries of the Forest Administration "Split" with Regard to Soil Fertility and Substrates, Cultivation Method     pdf     HR     EN 3
Summary: The paper gives a survey of climatic conditions and the state of soil fertility on the production plots, as well as on the substrates in seed-beds, containers and PVC plastic sheets (folia), and cones of varius capacity. The climate is characteristed by mild winters and dry summers. Most precipitation occurs in autumn and winter, while the summer months are appreciably drier and precipitation ranges from 40 to 50 mm in the driest months, however, the major part of plant production in the Split Forest nurseries of the Split Forest Administration region takes place on substrates and a smaller part on natural soil in beds. The broad-leaved species which are present to a greater degree are the following species: Pubescent Oak. Evergreen Oak, Common Locust, while with regard to conifers particularly well represented are Aleppo Pine, Austrian Pine, Maritime Pine and Brutian Pine (Pinus brutia), including Stone Pine and cypresses.During recent years, eith the introduction of control fertility, on several occasions samples of soil, substrates and plant material have been taken and recommendations given adequate ferilisation (organic, green, mineral, foliar, etc.), with the aim of improving soil ferility, namely substrate, and in this way contributing to better growth and quality of seedlings.
