Growing Stock and Increment in the Marjan Park Forest pdf HR EN | 13
Summary: The overall area of The Marjan penninsula (near Split) is 300,20 ha, Of the total area, 173.53 ha are covered with the forests of Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis Mill.,), established by planting seedlings in The period between 1852 and 1936 on a degraded and highly rocky soil. The first management for The Marfan forest was carried out from 1951 to 1955; however, from the rules of the working plan only the rule concerning forest preservation was applied. In the year 1970 a new forest management plan was installed and the management basis was drawn up giving The guidelines for the transformation of the forest and other necessary steps. Apart from the activities aimed at preserving the, forest, silvicultural. works were undertaken with the aim to reinstate autochthonous vegetation, with very encouraging initial results. The measurements made in the forests in the autumn of 1989 compared to those carried out in 1970 showed that the forest of Aleppo pine produced on average about 3.3 m3 per hectare annually. It also showed highly vital trends towards selfregeneration and re-installation of autochthonous vegetation, that is, the forest of evergreen oak (Orno-Quercetum ilicis Br.Bl.,). The average production in the period between 1952 and 1970 was 3.3 m3 per hectare. Key words: park forest; menagement klas; growing stock; production
