movement distance was typical for the bank vole (Fig. 5). Bank vole could be characterised by approximately average movement distances in 2001 and 2002, but the mean of its movement distances decreased in 2003. Based on the statistics of movement distance values, the yellow-necked mouse covered significantly greater distances than the bank vole (ANOVA: F = 20.97, P < 0.01; LSD test: P = 0.0013) and the striped field mouse, the latter characterised by rapid, expansive dispersal (ANOVA: F = 20.97, P < 0.01; LSD test: P = 0.0063). It was the bank vole that covered the smallest average distances in the comparison of the three examined rodents.
