I. Trinajstić, J. Franjić: ŠUME BUKVE S DLAKAVIM SASOM (CARICI PILOSAE-FACETUM OBERDORFER 1957) Šumarski list br. 7 X, CXX1II (1999), 31 1-321
stands designated by the name of "Carici pilosae-Fagetum Oberd. 1957"
(Oberdorfer 1957), namely Galio odorati-Fagetum "Carex pilosa -Ausbildung"
(Th. Miiller 1992). it can be seen that ali three complexes are spread
over a relatively large space in Centaral Europe with basically a unigue floral
composition and that they fit well in theframe ofthe Centaral European alliance
Fagion sylvaticae, and inside it in the suballiance Galio odorati-Fagenion.
Similary, far the Croatian stands it is significant thatpractically they do
not contain any elements ofthe Illvrian alliance Aremonio-Fagion, and, there

fore, theyfit very vvell into theframe ofthe Central European alliance Fagion
sylvaticae, too.

For these reasons, we accepted the original standpoint of Oberdorfer
(1957) that the beech forest stands in vvhich Carex pilosapredominates are to
be understood as an independent association of Carici pilosae-Fagetum. It
should be noted, hovvever, that in Croatia, as vvell as elsevvhere in Europe, the
ass. Carici pilosae-Fagetum is in the close sindynamical and sinchorological
relations with the ass. Galio odorati-Fagetum, taken in a limited sense, vvith
vvhich there is no doubt thatfloristically it is closely related.

Key vvords: Carex pilosa, Fagus sylvatica, Croatia
