SUMMARY: The construction of forest roads in some disadvantageous field conditions is possible only by the application of known methods of soil stabilization. The improvement of carrying force of forest soil by the classical methods of stabilization will in some cases require additional preparation work (having disposal of a roofed stock room, special mechanization and the like). By the usage of geo-synthetics such problems will be avoided and the construction itself will be simpler. The application of different types of geo- synthetics has been going on during the last thirty years. With the development of chemical industry the number of products based on plastic masses which can be applied as means for stabilization i.e. for improvement of carrying force of forest soils has been increased. A short historical overview of development of geo-synthetics application in the civil engineering has been presented in this work, as well as the classification of geo-synthetics according to the possibilities of application in civil engineering. The technical-technological procedure of geo-synthetics application has been described, the needed mechanization quoted and the area of application suggested. As a conclusion, the comparison of application of geo-synthetics with some other methods ofsoild stabilization has been described. 389 |
