SUMMARV: The Italian oak (Quercus frainetto Ten.) is a rare forest
speeies in the region of Croatia. It grows in Slavonia and in several places in
Dalmatia, but only on the southern slopes of´Krndija in Požeška kotlina it occupies
larger surfaces. There as well as in the central parts of the Balkan
peninsula it builds the association Quercetum frainetto-cem´5´ Rudski 1949 is
represented by a relatively mesophilus subassociations carpinetosum betuli.


Floral composition ofthe ass. Quercetum frainetto-cerris is shown in table
1, made on the basis ofninephvtocenological records.
