The following can be concluded from the research results.


Black pine cultures are most severely damaged on the territory of forest
enterprise Labin in Istria, where thermo-electric power plant Plomin is located.
Considerably higher sulphur concentrations in black pine needles were found


near Plomin and Rijeka. In the same region, top five centimeters of humus-
accumulative soil horizon also contain more sulphur and lead, and in the majority
of cases zinc too, as compared to soils in other parts of Istria.


Sulphur concentrations in needles are higher in black pine cultures near
Pula too, in northwestern part of Istria and in northern parts of island Cres.
The highest magnesium concentrations were found in needles of black pine
on dolomite rendzinas.
