Summary

HEMIPARASITES LORANTHUS EUROPAEUS JACK. AND VISCUM ALBUM L.
(FAM. LORANTHACESAE) AS HOST-PLANTS OF CLEAR-WING MOTH LARVAE
(AEGERIIDAE (SESIIDAE, LEPID.)

Following scattered and unchecked data in some specialized works, the
author wished to examine the possibility of presence and feeding of some clear-
wing moht larvae (Aegeriidae, Lep.) in hemiparasitic plants Viscum album L.
and Loranthus europaeus Jack. Investigations were carried out in many localities
in Podravina in 1977. The larvae of Synanthedon cephiformis Ochsm., wihch has
a one-year generation, have been found in hypertrophies of both mistletoe
species. Both of these mistletoe species also indirectly facilitate the presence
of Synanthedon myopaeformis larvae on apple trees and Synanthedon conopiformis
Esp. on oaks. It is pointed out that the mistletoes host a number of
noxinous xylophagous insects in hypertrophic parts of oak branches.
