Summary


Use of the work sampling method (WSM) in time studies on the felling and
primary conversion of Fir trees


In his work the author deals with the possibility of applyingg the work
sampling method for measuring time consumption in operations of felling and
primary conversion of Fir trees. The method proved to be of advantage. Observation
intervals can be equal, because the work elements are of varying duration.


From the structure of the effective time it is visible that the branch-trimming
accounts on an average for about 1/3, and the barking about 44% offective
time. Thus, through the machine barking in felling and primary conversion of Fir
stems great savings in time for conversion and in labour would be achieved.
