PROBLEM OF FOREST FIRE PROTECTION IN THE SR CROATIA Summary The author presents data on the ever more frequent forest fires in Croatia, especially in its coastal Karst area; he associates this phenomenon with the louglasting drought periods and an ever increasing tourism. He describes the modern preventive measures, the organization of forest fire lookouts, as well as the preparations for combating forest fires prior to their breaking out. The author makes a survey of present-day methods of extinguishing forest fires in the world, and suggests an organization of forest fire control services in Croatia including special staffs and fire control stations. |
