Količina dušika u drvetu je malena, ali znatno varira prema vrsti drvamjestu na kome se vrši ispitivanje.
Količina dušika u drvetu nema važnosti 2a mehaničku i kemijsku upotrebu,
već je interesantna za trajnost i konzerviranje. Aminski vezani dušik govori

o količini proteina, koji mogu stimulativno djelovati na mikroorganizme koji
razaraju drvo.

A CONTRIBUTION TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF N1TROGEN CONTENT
IN THE TREE

SUMMARY

The author determined the nitrogen content in Oak, Ash and Elm trees by
means of the classical method called wet combustion i. e. with concentrated sulphuric
acid, and he established that in Elmwood there is the highest content of nitrogen
(0,38´Vo) and a smaller one in Oak- and Ashwood (0,26 to 0,2SP/o). The nitrogen
distribution in every species is different. In Ash the highest content is to be found
in the vessels (0.3tfVo and a lower one in the tree top and ćore (0.2´4°/o); in Elm the
N-content is increasing from the stump up to the tree top (from 0,30 to 0,38 and even
up to 0.46°/o). In Oak the N-content is in ali mentioned 3 parts nearliy evenly distributed
(0.28 to 0.30P/«).

The author establishes that the N-tcontent in the wood is important for its dura^
bility and preservation.
