THE ROLE OF THE FORESTRY IN THE STRUGGLE FOR THE INCREASED
AND STABILE HARVEST OF THE AGRICULTURE IN THE SOVIET UNION


In connection with the decision of the soviet govern e merit and of the Central
Committee of Communist Party (bölshewik) dated on 20. October 1948 about taking
measures in the aim of assurance of high and stabile harvest of the agricultur
and forest-desert zone of the european part of the Soviet Union, the author described
the principal traits of this decision, brought the history so as the problematic, which
connects the forestry of the wich the tasks of this plan.


In generally, the circumstances are described, which cause the appearance of
the dryness and infertility of this fruitfttllst zones, and the experience of the struggle
against the dryness, which he seas in the effective solution of the problem in building
of fieldprotecting shelter-belts, in special methods of agriculture and so one. — The
specifical role of some inquiry stations and a great number of scientific and researching
men as are Dokutchaew, Wissotsky, Williams and many others.


The äffest of the fieldprotecting shelter-belts was felt especially during the dryness,
because the harvest is reduced only for cca 20%, but at same time it is on the
unprotected fields in the deserts 5—6 times smaller.


Some results of researches o fthe problem of the building of the shelterbelts are
described, their highness and widts, the kinds of the trees and bushes, the manners
of the plantation etc.


After all the results of the work, in the first two months done in this direction,


are cited.


It is point out that in this question the russian science and practice have the
priority in the world, and it is indicated that the socialistic soeiaty has all possibilities
to solute such a problem eo complexed and so difficult.
